{"id":23795,"date":"2025-09-20T11:14:35","date_gmt":"2025-09-20T10:14:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hbka.org.uk\/?page_id=23795"},"modified":"2025-09-20T11:14:35","modified_gmt":"2025-09-20T10:14:35","slug":"honey-wholemeal-cake-2025","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hbka.org.uk\/?page_id=23795","title":{"rendered":"Honey wholemeal cake 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This recipe for the 2025 Halifax Show was particularly popular and agreed to be much better than previous ones.<\/p>\n<h3>Honey wholemeal cake<\/h3>\n<h4>Ingredients<\/h4>\n<p>300g unsalted butter, softened<br \/>\n250g of golden caster sugar<br \/>\n4 medium eggs<br \/>\n150g wholemeal SR flour (or a combination of wholemeal SR and white SR flour)<br \/>\n150g ground almonds<br \/>\n1 teaspoon baking powder<br \/>\n50g flaked almonds<br \/>\n4 tablespoons of runny honey<\/p>\n<h4>Method<\/h4>\n<p>Preheat oven to 170C\/Gas Mark 3.\u00a0\u00a0Grease and line a springform cake tin (23cm approx) or similar, and place on a baking sheet or tray. Beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.\u00a0\u00a0Beat in the eggs, one at a time, adding some flour with each one.\u00a0\u00a0Fold in the ground almonds, baking powder and remaining flour.\u00a0\u00a0Scrape the mixture into the prepared cake tin.<\/p>\n<p>Bake for about 45 minutes or until cooked.\u00a0\u00a0During baking scatter the flaked almonds over the surface \u2013 make sure they don\u2019t burn.\u00a0\u00a0Remove from the oven and while still hot evenly trickle over the honey.\u00a0\u00a0(Tip \u2013 if your honey will not trickle, gently warm until it becomes runny).\u00a0\u00a0Place on a wire rack to cool and turn out.<\/p>\n<p>Note \u2013 if you prefer to use plain wholemeal flour (or a combination of plain wholemeal and plain white flours) increase the baking powder to 2 teaspoons.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This recipe for the 2025 Halifax Show was particularly popular and agreed to be much better than previous ones.
