\n<\/div>If you live in Calderdale and you are interested in keeping bees, producing honey, harvesting beeswax, visiting local apiaries or attending beekeeping events, then this is the place for you.<\/p>\n
The Halifax and District Beekeepers Association (HBKA) is one of the 22 local associations which make up the Yorkshire Beekeepers Association (YBKA).<\/p>\n
We are based in Halifax, West Yorkshire and we serve the beekeepers in the Calder valley all the way from Todmorden to Brighouse.<\/p>\n
We arrange a series of talks over the winter period, and in the summer we arrange various apiary visits as well as representing the association at the Halifax Agricultural Show and other summer events.<\/p>\n
Do you really want to keep bees?<\/h3>\n
We get plenty of enquiries from people considering taking up this fascinating hobby, but find there are quite a few misconceptions out there on what beekeeping involves and its place in the environment.\u00a0 You can read a short article here.<\/a><\/p>\n
Training and Support<\/h3>\n
The association\u00a0 runs a training course for beginners in the spring each year and this is supplemented by ongoing support and mentoring to give new beekeepers the best possible start.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Please click here<\/a> for more information and contact for questions.<\/p>\n
In addition to the basic training, various workshops and events are organised to help beekeepers of every level prepare for the many formal qualifications which are developed and administered by the British Beekeeping Association.<\/p>\n<\/div>
