Halifax Show 2026
8th August 2026 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
| FreeFeaturing our own Honey Show, a chance to sell honey and other hive products, and a chance to chat with the public about beekeeping. Our tent is always one of the most popular attractions at the Agricultural Show.
Please let us know if you are coming to help, by completing the RSVP. If so please indicate if you need a car pass to drop off heavy items before the show. We only have a limited number of these passes and all vehicles have to be removed from the showground by 8:30am.
Hints for entering the show:
- Start early preparing your exhibits!
- Jar up your honey at least a week before the show, so it has time to settle and for bubbles to come to the surface. Keep it in a warm room to help this.
- Cling film is the beekeepers friend, use it to clear the surface of honey of any tiny bubbles or traces of skum.
- Don’t worry about ‘travel stains’ on the inside lids of your honey, judges make allowances for car journeys. It’s more important to not open the lid 3 days before the show, so the aroma builds under the lid
- Filter your honey using a double mesh filter and a 200 micron filter bag to improve its clarity and remove all foreign bodies eg propolis. Keep all equipment and jars scrupulously clean.
- Use honey cappings to create the best wax products. Don’t use brood wax or dark wax collected during inspections
- Improve the quality of your wax by filtering it through j cloths, nappy liners and / or lint
- Enjoy the process and be proud of the products you’ve created!
